An FT702 Ultrasonic Anemometer used to monitor the performance of a small wind generator on the Isle of Mull off the west coast of Scotland has recorded wind speeds hitting 125mph. During the afternoon of Thursday 27th December 2001 an Atlantic storm started to move through the region. Steadily increasing winds lashed the Isle of Mull during the evening of the 27th and through the early hours of Friday 28th December. With the wind being channelled by the local terrain at the peak of the storm, wind gusts of 125mph and average (5 min) wind speeds of nearly 100mph were recorded.
