FT Technologies wins Double Queen's Award
Teddington,
UK, 21st April 2006 FT Technologies Ltd was named today as a double
award winner of the 2006 Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
It is unusual for a company to win two awards
in one year and the Teddington-based technology company has been recognised in
both the Innovation and the International Trade categories.
“We were very
honoured when we heard the news,” said Peter Elgar, Managing Director of
FT Technologies. “It has been
a very busy year for us and this really is the icing on the cake.
During the past eighteen months we have doubled our workforce and this
award recognises the hard work they have been putting in.”
It is the first
time that FT Technologies has won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
The International Trade Category recognises that, in three years, the
company has more than quadrupled its export earnings which account for more
than 90 percent of production. Success has been based on the strength of the
underlying innovation combined with a focused marketing strategy.
FT Technologies
wins the Innovation Award for designing and manufacturing the range of fluid
flow sensing devices that operate
on the Company’s patented Acoustic Resonance principle. Products based on
this novel principle can have an extremely wide dynamic range.
They can measure speeds from the slightest air movement up to hurricane
force winds, and give direction, with very great accuracy. The devices
automatically compensate for variations in temperature, humidity and pressure
and because of their extreme robustness and small size they have often been
utilised in demanding applications where existing technologies have
failed.
The sensors have
been specifically developed to overcome the shortcomings of conventional
mechanical-based sensors and have no moving parts. Areas of application for
this technology are many and varied, spanning environmental, industrial,
marine, renewables, meteorology, pollution monitoring, defence,
counter-terrorism, and leisure.
